Karen was a beautiful lady with a gorgeous smile, and was the glue that drew and held family and friends together. She could meet a total stranger and treat them like a best friend. She brought love, life and a deep sense of caring to the lives of all she touched.

She is survived by husband, Don Patterson of Discovery Bay; sons, Dave and Darin Houston of Livermore; granddaughter, Breann Houston of Danville; brother, Darrell Holum of Dublin; and sister, Joanne Brantley of Branson, Mo.

“Memories,” a potluck for all who knew and loved her, was hosted by Don at their home in Discovery Bay on June 23. More than 300 people attended. She was well loved. She will be missed by all.
