Joelle Williams, 2012 Liberty High School grad, recently became one of only 1,000 students across the nation to receive the prestigious Gates Millennium Scholarship (GMS), funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

Williams, who will be attending Stanford University in the fall, will receive $40,000 per year (renewable for four years for a total of $160,000).

The GMS program selects students to receive a good-through-graduation scholarship to use at the college or university of their choice. The goal of GMS is to provide an opportunity for outstanding minority students with significant financial need to reach their highest potential.
