When the Art, Wine & Jazz Festival swings into action Aug. 25 and 26 at The Streets of Brentwood, festivalgoers will be treated to a variety of artists, jazz aficionados and award-winning wines and brews.

Now in its 11th season, the popular festival draws crowds from not only East County but across the Bay Area. Hosted by the Brentwood Art Society, the two-day event features local vintners, artists and some of Northern California’s finest jazz musicians including Larry Vann and Friends; The Rhumba Burns, featuring Steve Lucky and Carmen Gettit; as well as East County’s own Heritage and Liberty high schools’ jazz bands.

“It’s one of those events that everyone has been very happy with,” said Jack Gaughan, one of the organizers of the festival. “It’s a nice family-friendly venue that people enjoy walking from one end of to the other. We’re looking forward to another successful weekend.”

Local wines will include selections from Hannah Nicole Vineyards, Bloomfield Vineyards, Tamayo Family Vineyards, J. Doran Vineyards and Cline Cellars. Micro-brews will also be available from Black Diamond Brewery and BJ’s Restaurant, to name a few.

More than 40 vendors will be present, including local artists with specialists in oil, watercolor, pencil, clay and bronze. A children’s area will offer budding artists the opportunity to show off their talents as well.

Pacific Coast Jazz artist Jonathan Poretz will be taking the large stage on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. bringing his energy to the event with his unique blend of Sinatra, Torme, Bennett and Darin. The New York City native has appeared as Frank Sinatra in the “Tribute to Frank, Sammy, Joey & Dean (The Rat Pack is Back)” in San Francisco, Las Vegas, Boston and Memphis. He has also appeared at several of the Bay Area’s top jazz venues, including Yoshi’s Oakland and San Francisco.

The Streets of Brentwood is located at 2565 Sand Creek Road. The festival will be open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Admission is free.
