Your friends have told you, “You belong on stage!” You’ve watched a performer and thought, “That looks like fun.” But how do you get started when you’ve never done more than paint some scenery in high school?”

Brentwood resident Steve Kinsella has the answer. The Kinsella Theater Group, one of the Bay Area’s premiere training programs, will offer a six-week course – When Acting is Not Acting! – for adults 18 to 92 who’ve always wanted to be on stage but didn’t know the first steps. Actors who’ve let a lot of time go by since their last curtain call will also benefit from the course.

Kinsella, with nearly 40 years of experience on stage and screen, is a thoughtful instructor who gently coaxes the best from actors of all ages. He has taught this course nationally and is happy to be offering it in East County. The course will be held on six consecutive Tuesdays, March 10 to April 14, from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at Resurrection Ministries, 1275 Fairview Ave. in Brentwood.

The course will cover topics such as audition skills, scene study and monologue preparation, and conclude with a no-pressure performance for family and friends. This is a non-singing class.

The tuition is $118; $98 if paid before the first class. Payment plans are available. Enrollment is limited, so call 925-516-9009 to register and get more information.
