When Freedom High School Principal Eric Volta introduced Joseph Omoletski at last week’s Board of Trustees meeting, he described the high school senior as “a highly intelligent young man that some day may grace the walls of our district’s boardroom as a Graduate of Distinction.”

Omoletski’s achievements including his rank as fourth in Freedom’s senior class of 478 and his grade-point average of 4.22. In fact, in his entire high school career at Freedom, Omoletski has never received a semester grade less than A-, and was recognized by the College Board as an Advanced Placement (AP) Scholar.

Omoletski is a member of the California Scholastic Federation, National Honor Society and National Society of High School Scholars. He has already been accepted by UC Davis, and was awarded a $40,000 scholarship to the Colorado School of Mines.

In addition to his accomplishments in the classroom, Omoletski has excelled in Freedom High School’s music program. He has been a member of the Jazz Band for four years, Marching Band for three, and Symphonic Orchestra for two. Last year he participated in the Los Medanos College Honor Band.

Having received the 2000 honor of Graduate of Distinction herself, Board President Joanne Byer was especially pleased to present Omoletski with a district pin to honor his academic excellence and outstanding achievements.

What a positive 'good news' story....nice to see the kids who are working hard be rewarded for it.
