The basin east of Heron Park in Brentwood has recently been home to a herd of goats brought in by the Contra Costa County Public Works Department as part of an ingenious weed-abatement effort. A rancher is overseeing the nannies and billies, who chomp away with voracious enthusiasm, until their defoliating duty is done.
