The Heritage water polo team slashed through the competition undefeated and took home the title at the recent Amador Valley Tournament. Behind the scoring of Benji Mock, Spencer Lee, Walker Thaning, Zayd Othman, Sean Harris and Matt Bryant, the Patriots defeated Washington 14-9 in game one, Northgate 9-8 in game two and Amador Valley 7-6 in the championship match.

The Patriots narrowly escaped the second round. Northgate led 8-3 at the end of the third quarter when the tandem of Mock (four goals) and Thaning (one) caught fire in the fourth quarter to send the match into overtime. Thaning notched the winner with three seconds left in OT to send Heritage to the championship splashdown against Amador Valley.

Jake Matthisen led the Patriots with 11 saves in the tournament, including three in overtime in the second round to preserve the tie. Heritage is now 17-1 and 7-0 in the Bay Valley Athletic League.
