A special group of girls from the Delta Youth Soccer League recently trained with a couple of the world’s best women soccer players: Brandi Chastain and Sisleide Lima do Amor, better known to the world as just “Sissi.”

The training was made possibly by several DYSL Board members who were the winning bidders at a charity auction hosted by We Care Services for Children, a private nonprofit organization serving children with special needs in Contra Costa County.

Sissi played on the Brazilian Women’s National Team in the World Cup as well as the Olympics. She also played alongside Brandi Chastain for the San Jose Cyber Rays. Chastain is best known for her game-winning penalty kick against China in the 1999 FIFA Women’s World Cup final and her bra-baring celebration afterwards. Brandi was a member of the U.S. Women’s National team from 1988 to 2004, winning two gold and one silver medal in the Olympics. Brandi is now playing for the FC Gold Pride, coached by Sissi.

The Women’s Profession Soccer League (WPSL) season kicks off March 29. For information, check the Web site at www.womensprosoccer.com.
