Dozens of acres of new vines have been planted throughout the community and a consultant is helping to formulate an Agricultural Conservation and Viticulture Program to ensure local vineyards are permanent. Oakley’s grapes are distributed to a number of local wineries, including Cline, Gallo and Rosenblum.
The winning design will be reproduced as a commemorative pin. The winner will be recognized by the City Council in a proclamation and receive a $250 cash prize. The winning design will be published in “Oakley Outreach,” the city’s weekly e-newsletter.
The contest is open to all Oakley residents. For a complete list of rules, visit www.oakleyinfo.com.
Submissions must be received Friday, Nov. 30 by 5 p.m. Electronic submission may be e-mailed to marquez@ci.oakley.ca.us. Hardcopy submissions may be dropped off in person at the main lobby desk at City Hall, 3231 Main St.
All submissions will be posted on the city website for a popular vote between Dec. 4 and 11; the City Council will then select the winning design. The winning design and designer(s) will be announced and recognized at a City Council meeting.
