On the morning of Dec. 8, attendees can meet Santa and enjoy a pancake breakfast while being entertained by the award-winning Heritage High School Jazz Band under the direction of Steve Ernest. The event, held at the Shadow Lakes event center on Balfour Road, includes three seatings, starting at 8 a.m.
Breakfast With Santa, which benefits Heritage instrumental music programs, has become a Brentwood tradition. The holiday music gets the toes tapping, the service from elves is fast and courteous, and photo-ops with Santa provide merry memorabilia.
One of the school’s prime music groups, the Heritage Wind Ensemble, has been selected to perform in New York City’s prestigious Carnegie Hall in April of 2013. While in New York, the band will also perform in Central Park, do some sightseeing and take in a Broadway play. The cost of the trip is approximately $2,000 per student, and the Heritage High Band Boosters have arranged several fundraisers to defray the cost, including student-led ensembles playing holiday music at Safeway and Raley’s on the weekends. The Boosters have also held car washes and a weekly Monday Night Football pool.
Tickets may be purchased at Tummies to Tots, 3860 Balfour Road, from your favorite Heritage Band student, or by e-mail at heritagehighschoolbandcouncil@gmail.com.
