Kaiser Permanente’s Antioch Medical Center welcomed its first patient five years ago this month. As the first hospital built in East Contra Costa County in nearly 40 years, the medical center was meant to accommodate the area’s tremendous growth.

At an employee celebration last week, employees and senior leaders gathered to recognize the milestone. “You should all be very proud of what you have accomplished here,” said Chief Operating Officer Tim Daly. “World-class patient care is delivered here every day. And the work that everyone contributes just underscores our commitment to the community.”

Dr. Dale Poppert, medical center chief of staff, agreed. “Everything we do here is dedicated to the patient and their family. And we hold everyone to that standard. We all lift each other up and challenge one another to do even better. This hospital really is dedicated to making lives better.”

Kaiser Permanente’s Antioch Medical Center provides 11 operating rooms, 36 emergency treatment bays and 150 beds. Since opening in 2007, 6,628 babies have been delivered at Kaiser Antioch and 23,724 outpatient and 9,390 inpatient surgeries have been performed. More than 1,700 staff (excluding physicians) currently work at the Antioch Medical Center site.
