In an effort to support the Oakley First Program and local businesses, the Oakley City Council spread holiday cheer by adopting an Oakley family in need. Each council member was assigned the name and age of one of the family members, and canvased Oakley stores for the perfect gifts.

Mayor Kevin Romick, left, shopped at Dirty Pirate Skate Shop to find a gift for an 8-year-old boy. Every local purchase keeps the dollars spent plus 1 percent of the sales tax revenue within the community. Last year, the City of Oakley received $1.4 million in sales tax revenues, the equivalent of six police officers’ salaries plus Oakley’s recreational program.
