The Oakley community welcoming initiative called You, Me, We = Oakley! recently received the Award for the Advancement of Diverse Communities by the League of California Cities.

The award acknowledges the work done by the many volunteers and community leaders to ensure that every policy, program, law and event adheres to some basic welcoming principles including treating all residents with dignity and respect and embracing the diversity that makes for a unified and participatory community.

“As the newest member of the You, Me, We = Oakley! Project Committee, I’m happy to be a part of this effort to continue to make Oakley a welcoming and inclusive community,” said Councilmember Doug Hardcastle. “I’m also tremendously encouraged to see so many people involved behind the scenes, volunteering their time to make this effort a great success.”
