Scheduled for Saturday, March 28 at the Shops at Fairview, the outdoor event is an opportunity for local merchants and residents to become acquainted, or in some cases, reacquainted.
“We want people to know that they don’t have to leave Brentwood to shop, and certainly that is part of what spurred this event, ” said Jeannette Hemenway, owner of Meeting Objectives, the group organizing the expo. “But what happened as we began to organize this event was that people started understanding the importance of supporting our local merchants and friends. I’m not worried about the rest of the country; I’m worried about my neighbors and my community, and that’s what this event is all about.”
Comprised exclusively of Brentwood vendors, the family-friendly event runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will feature food, entertainment and raffle prizes. Mayor Bob Taylor will be on hand to chat with residents and local business owners, and for the younger set, Chuck of Chuck E. Cheese will be handing out gifts. Members of Brentwood’s Fire Station #52 will park their big red truck at the event site, and Home Depot staff will be teaching kids how to build toys and games through their Kids Workshop program.
“The purpose and belief behind this event is that if we support our neighbors, then they’ll support us,” said Hemenway. “It’s a matter of making that personal connection, that is so important to a community. If you come out and meet some new business owners, then maybe the next time you need something you’ll remember them. It’s about supporting one another. We’re very excited, we’re looking forward to a great event.”
