The City of Oakley hosts a free, backyard composting workshop Wednesday, Feb. 27 from 7 to 9 p.m. in the City Council chambers, 3231 Main St.

Attendees will learn how to compost yard trimmings and food scraps, and have the opportunity to purchase high-quality SoilSaver compost bins at a discounted price of $49 (the retail price is $100). Those who can’t attend but are interested in composting may purchase a compost bin at City Hall for $70. Residents must attend the workshop to receive the lowest price on the bins.

For more information, call Senior Planner Joshua McMurray at 925-625-7004 or e-mail mcmurray@ci.oakley.ca.us.
