Oakley Police Department Volunteer Sue Longo was recognized for her contributions to the Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff and the community in being awarded the Sheriff’s All Volunteers Extended Services (SAVES) Volunteer of the Year Award.

Longo has been a volunteer with the Oakley Police for two years. She reports directly to Assistant to the Police Chief Jeff Billeci, but she regularly supports all areas of the department. She has a strong work ethic, and in addition to her routine duties, she finds time to assist in special assignments such as IT support, public safety fairs and city-sponsored events.

“Sue volunteered 336 hours in 2012 and has provided an invaluable service to the police department and the Oakley community,” said Oakley Police Chief Bani Kollo.

Sue consistently makes good decisions and is well respected by the Oakley police staff. She is always early to her scheduled volunteer days and is considered family at the PD. Sue has excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and those skills have saved the department in both personnel costs as well as equipment and software costs.

Longo has been instrumental in helping the police department develop the existing strong volunteer program that is purposeful, reliable, necessary, and a great benefit to the community and the public safety professionals who serve the community.
