The 2013 Contra Costa Youth Summit will be held Saturday, March 16 at Los Medanos College in Pittsburg. Sponsored by Contra Costa County District V Supervisor Federal Glover, the summit features workshops, exhibits, entertainment and inspirational speakers. This year’s theme is Choose to be Cool.

Keynote speaker Jeremy Newberry, a former San Francisco 49er and Antioch High graduate, will tell local youth how to stay focused, make sound choices and become productive citizens.

“We look forward to having a high participation rate of our county’s youth from all social, ethnic, economic and linguistic backgrounds,” Glover said. “We want each person to feel that they are valued without regard to any of their differences. Though we may look and think differently from others, we are a part of one community, one county and ultimately, one nation.

Community groups operating booths at the summit include Division of Apprenticeship Standards, Delta Science Center, Contra Costa Tobacco Prevention Project, Center for Human Development, One Day at a Time and Child Abuse Prevention Council of Contra Costa County.
