Way back in July of 1913, the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors unanimously voted to establish a free county library. And way back last week, Brentwood City Councilman Gene Clare visited the butter-churning station while onlookers enjoyed sarsaparilla floats at the Contra Costa Library’s 100th Birthday Celebration at the Brentwood Community Center.

Additional celebrations will be held throughout the year. For more information, visit guides.ccclib.org/100thbirthday.
