Brentwood’s Cortona Park Senior Living Chamber Mixer was no ordinary affair. All levels of the business community and the residents of Cortona gathered for a memorable night. “I walked in, and the smell of beef teriyaki, grilled vegetables, bacon-wrapped scallops and Italian sausage enveloped me,” said chamber member Bobbi Michalski. “The food and the live music were as inviting at that of a New Orleans celebration.”

According to Lisa Pinguelo, “It’s not this amazing 154,000-square-foot building that makes this a special and inviting place; it’s the residents who live here and caring staff who breathe life into the community. We are really blessed to live in Brentwood, where people reach out to each other and are constantly giving of themselves. We love where we live and work.”

During Thursday night’s Chamber Mixer, Cortona Park presented the new Brentwood Senior Center a Wii station to help keep the residents engaged, active and healthy. Cortona also volunteered staff to assist with installation and to teach the residents how to play. “If it’s moving; move it! If it shaking; shake it!” said Cortona Park Life Style Director Cheryl Ortiz.

The mixers, held on the third Thursday of the month, are opportunities for local business people to get together and network. For more information on becoming a member of the Brentwood Chamber of Commerce, e-mail info@brentwoodchamber.com or visit www.brentwoodchamber.com.
