Los Medanos College Foundation’s inaugural Mega Mixer will take place Wednesday, April 15 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the new Los Medanos College Library and Art Gallery, 2700 East Leland Road in Pittsburg.

Participants include the regional business community and the Bay Point, Pittsburg, Antioch, Oakley, Brentwood and Hispanic chambers of commerce. The Earth-Day-themed event will raise funds for scholarships at Los Medanos. This is the first time all regional chambers are joining together to provide a networking and marketing event. All businesses are welcome to participate.

A highlight of the evening will be the presentation of the LMC Foundation’s 2009 Appreciation Award to The Dow Chemical Company for its ongoing support of LMC. Dow has provided funding for LMC supplies such as state-of-the-art microscopes; the upgrade of a classroom into a “smart” classroom; materials for the award-winning LMC Nature Preserve; personnel “loaned” to the college to help with the needs analysis, curriculum design and course outlines for the Process Technology program; and recent funding for the Math Science Engineering Achievement (MESA) program to be launched this fall.
