The East county community is invited to celebrate Earth Day at the Dow Wetlands Preserve in Antioch on Sunday, April 26 from 1 to 4 p.m. Bring the family (no pets, please), a picnic meal – perhaps a kite – and enjoy the beautiful 470-acre wildlife preserve, situated along the San Joaquin River. Visitors can take a 1.9-mile or 3-mile self-guided walk, see live animals provided by Lindsay Wildlife Museum, and watch a honeybee demonstration.

Free snacks and water will be provided, and the first 100 families will receive a special commemorative gift. Parking is available on the Wetlands Preserve property. Wetlands Team volunteers will be on hand to answer questions and lead children in crafts projects.

The preserve is located off the Pittsburg-Antioch Highway between Loveridge Road and Auto Center Parkway. For more information, call 925-432-5576.
