The community is invited to attend Science Day at Big Break on April 25 from 10 a.m. to noon Scientists from the Marine Science Institute will lead the activities and explain how we all affect the water in the Delta. Participants can learn the answers to questions such as: Why is Plankton important? Is the quality of the water in the Delta as good as it could be? Where is the Benthic Zone? What kinds of birds live in or near the water?

Attendees can also drag up all kinds of fish, animals, vertebrae, dirt and silt from the Delta and take a look at the contents under a microscope, aided by scientists in identifying species, birds and plants – and understanding what it all means for the Delta. Participants are encouraged to bring a sack lunch or snack.
