Golden State Wrestling is getting excellent performances from first-year wrestlers Raul Graham and Alex Rivera. Both placed first at Liberty High’s tournament on April 11. Aaron Spivey went 6-0, taking first place in the Cadet Division of Greco and Freestyle Wrestling for the Golden State Wrestling Club at an April 25 tournament at College Park High in Pleasant Hill. Also taking first were A.J. Cress and Jeremy Castillo in the Junior Division. Elijha Iakopo placed first in the Schoolboy Division at CYC in Concord on May 9 with a record of 3-0. Graham, Cress, Castillo and Spivey all placed second in their divisions. Seventh-grader Selena Hurtado is viewed by many as a promising Golden State Wrestling Club competitor.
