Antioch Unified School District Superintendent Deborah Sims, Ed.D. announced her resignation as superintendent effective August 31, 2009 this morning.

“I am leaving to take a position, the details of which I am not at liberty to share at this time," said Sims. "I am proud of the accomplishments achieved during my tenure including the passage of the facilities bond, opening of Dozier-Libbey Medical High School, Delta Academy for the Performing Arts, Orchard Park K-8 school, and the opening of the Deer Valley Law Academy scheduled for this August.

"I appreciated the opportunity to serve the students, staff, and community of Antioch for the past three years. I am announcing at this time to allow the Board of Education the opportunity to begin the search for a new superintendent. I wish the Board, staff, students, and parents all the best.”

What a terrible loss for the AUSD...

This is what happens when you bring someone good to Antioch...

Wish her the best in her future endeavors.
