Having taught math at all levels for 22 years, it’s safe to say Heritage High School teacher Christine Zahn loves her work. This summer, she’s sharing with students in the Liberty Union High School District her interest in integers, passion for percentages and glee in graphing.

“I like to make math fun and exciting,” said Zahn, whose weeklong Summer Math Camp will be open to the first 100 incoming district freshmen who apply. “We use hands-on games and activities to get a real feel for what they’re doing, and hopefully make math come alive.”

Students will use their own bodies to learn graphing, and play card games to understand integers. There is no charge, although students must be planning to attend high school in the Liberty district.

The Summer Math Camp will run from July 13 to 17, from 9 a.m. to noon each day. The venue will be one of the district’s three high schools, although the site has yet to be determined.

To learn more about the camp or to reserve a spot, call Zahn at 925-634-0037.
