Sgt. 1st Class Fred Urbin, in the large photo above, waits patiently outside the home of the future Maria Eleanor Urbin in Kenzingen, West Germany in 1955.

A nuclear reactor operator, Fred also served in Vietnam, Panama and stateside during his 22 years with the Army’s 1st Engineer Battalion, 1st Infantry Division. Urbin, now 77, has continued his life of service as a member of the Brentwood Kiwanis Club.

If you’d like to meet Fred, you can find him at the weekly Kiwanis meeting, 7:45 a.m. every Friday at Perko’s Cafe in Brentwood.

Great moustache, Fred, and thanks for your service.
