According to Master Instructor and academy owner Roger Hamilton, “We’re looking forward to personally welcoming all martial arts competitors, families and enthusiasts. Once again, we have taken extensive steps to make certain that this event, our second tournament here in Antioch, is an excellent and special gathering for the Bay Area sport martial art community.”
The Bushido Open is designed for all styles of martial arts competitors. In addition to traditional styles, actions will consist of weapons, fighting and creative kata (forms) in addition to padded stick fighting.
Styles to be showcased include Shotokan, Goju and Isshinryu, as well as the kicking skills of Tae Kwon Do and the self -defense excellence of Kajukenbo. Chinese styles such as Wushu and the powerful technique of Shaolin Kempo will also be on display.
Black Belt champions and Grand champions will be chosen from Juniors, Men and Women’s divisions. A First-Timers Division will also be featured. Winners will receive a full-size trophy for kata and kumite.
All Grand Champion winners will receive free tickets to Prewett Family Waterpark, special embroidered rek suits and cash for fighting divisions. All Juniors and Underbelt Grand Champion winners will receive cash prizes of $50 for Fighting Divisions as well.
Other special prizes include beautiful awards for the Most Supportive Pre-Reg School and the Grand Champion Parent/s Award.
Again in 2009, major sponsors include Tiger Claw, Gold Cup Circuit, Active.com, and Lucky stores. Also supporting this year’s Bushido Open, Chase Bank will be on hand volunteering its services and making available financial information.
