The annual Grand Assembly of the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls (I.O.R.G.) held in Fresno last month was especially exciting for two local students, Elise Antrobus and Susana Conde.

Antrobus, a senior at Antioch High School, was chosen to serve on the state Grand Executive Committee and was appointed Dean of the Grand Cross of Color and Grand Representative to the states of Connecticut and Rhode Island. Conde, a student at Los Medanos College, was also appointed to the state Grand Executive Committee and selected as Grand California Flag Bearer and Grand Representative to Germany, Italy and the state of Michigan.

Both girls are active members of Diablo Valley Assembly 84 in Antioch and are recipients of the Grand Cross of Color, the highest service award. Antrobus is the daughter of Kevin and Marsha Antrobus of Antioch. Since joining the organization at the age of 11, she has twice been elected to serve as Worthy Advisor (president) of the Antioch group and will be installed for a third time in the fall of 2010.

She has enjoyed working with members of DeMolay International, an equivalent organization for young men, as the Sweetheart of Redwood Empire Division. In 2008 she received the Masonic Spirit for her involvement with the Masonic Family. She will be attending St. Mary’s College in the fall where she intends to be involved with student government on campus.

Conde is the daughter of Barbara and Emanuel Conde of Antioch and sister Juliana Conde, who is also a member of Diablo Valley Assembly. Since her appointment, she has made plans to travel to Michigan to attend that state’s Grand Assembly session in June. A first-generation Rainbow Girl, she joined Rainbow in December of 2002 and has held numerous offices, including Worthy Advisor. She has also served as a member of Grand Choir in 2006 and as Grand Talent Page at Grand Assembly in 2008.

Conde is a graduate of Antioch High School and plans to continue her studies at Cal State East Bay, where she will major in world history. She plans to obtain her teaching credential after graduating from Cal State East Bay and hopes to be able to work at Antioch High School, teaching world history.
