Knights name new officers

The Immaculate Heart of Mary Knights of Columbus Council 7467 has announced its new officers for 2009-10: Grand Knight Ronald Lopes of Brentwood, Chaplin Deacon John Kortuem of Oakley, Deputy Grand Knight Eric Dark of Brentwood, Chancellor Thomas Gamble of Oakley, and Recorder Arthur Londos of Brentwood.

Other officers are Financial Secretary Kenneth Hitch of Brentwood, Treasurer John Alcorn of Brentwood, Lecturer Arlie Blackshear of Brentwood, Advocate Carlos Fuentes of Brentwood, Warden Robert LaFollette of Brentwood, and Guards Michael Demarzo and Omar Cantillo of Brentwood.

Lopes has been a member of the Knights of Columbus for five years, serving in the position of Recorder and Deputy Grand Knight. A resident of Brentwood, Lopes is a retired automotive technology instructor for the Contra Costa Community College District. He resides in Summerset II with his wife Jeanette and their pet dog Timmy and pet cat Cindy.

More than 1.7 million members strong, the Knights of Columbus is the world’s largest Catholic family fraternal service organization. It provides members and their families with volunteer opportunities in service to the Catholic Church, the community, families and young people. In 2008, the Knights of Columbus at all levels of the organization distributed more than $116 million to a wide range of church, community and charity activities and rendered over 57 million hours of volunteer service.
