State Sen. Mark DeSaulnier’s campaign for Congress has announced that all members of the Pleasant Hill City Council have endorsed his candidacy for Congress. Endorsers and members of the Pleasant Hill City Council include Pleasant Hill Mayor Dr. Michael Harris, Pleasant Hill Vice Mayor Karen Mitchoff, Pleasant Hill Councilmember David Durant, Pleasant Hill Councilmember John Hanecak and Pleasant Hill Councilmember Terri Williamson. Members of the Pleasant Hill City Council join an extensive list of elected officials who have endorsed Mark DeSaulnier for Congress, including former 10th District Congresswoman Ellen Tauscher, Congressman George Miller, Assemblyman Tom Torlakson, State Sen. Loni Hancock, and members of the Antioch City Council and the El Cerrito City Council.

“I am proud to support Senator Mark DeSaulnier for Congress,” said Pleasant Hill Vice Mayor Karen Mitchoff. “Mark will bring his real-world experience working and representing the people of Pleasant Hill and the district to Congress. He is a problem solver and a coalition builder, and will work to bring about universal healthcare and economic reform.”

“I am honored to receive the endorsement from the members of the Pleasant Hill City Council,” said DeSaulnier. “As a state senator, State Assembly member and Contra Costa County supervisor, I have advocated for healthcare reform and fought for progressive values for Contra Costa’s working families. When I am in Congress, I will bring proven local leadership to Washington and fight for education funding, environmental protection, and healthcare for all in the 10th CD.”

DeSaulnier, a Democrat, currently represents Pleasant Hill in the California State Senate. DeSaulnier’s other endorsements include over a dozen local labor unions and over two dozen local elected officials. DeSaulnier is a candidate for former Congresswoman Ellen Tauscher’s seat in the 10th Congressional District. Tauscher retired from Congress in June.
