The Mark DeSaulnier for Congress campaign reports commanding local financial backing for his campaign in the 10th Congressional District. Sen. DeSaulnier has raised a total of $211,229 from over 415 donors and has $136,509 cash on hand. Seventy percent of contributions to DeSaulnier’s congressional campaign came from donors within the district and Contra Costa County, in contrast to candidate John Garamendi, who is from the Central Valley and who has raised only 5 percent from donors in the 10th CD. Detailed contribution information from within the district was not yet available from candidates Joan Buchanan and Anthony Woods.

“I am humbled by the support our campaign has received from communities in the 10th CD,” said DeSaulnier. “This early and deep support shows that we have the strongest fundraising base within the district and I am confident we will have more than enough resources from the people within the 10th CD to win this race. The people of the 10th CD have thrown their support behind this campaign because local residents recognize my deep commitment and understanding of the important issues facing this district. As someone who has raised a family in the district, ran a business in this district, and represented this district, I understand the issues that matter the most to local residents and will continue to fight for health care for all, the best schools for our students, and increased economic opportunity when I am in Congress.”

DeSaulnier, a Democrat, has been endorsed by former Congresswoman Ellen Tauscher, Congressman George Miller, Assemblyman Tom Torlakson, over a dozen local labor unions and over two dozen local elected officials.

DeSaulnier is a candidate for former Congresswoman Ellen Tauscher’s seat in the 10th Congressional District. Tauscher retired from Congress in June.
