At Digger’s Diner, we have always prided ourselves as a part of the community. We are proud to say that we have been involved in great causes, from Toy and Food Drives to Teen Drunk Driving Prevention as well as many, many other programs and fundraisers. As most of you know, we’ve never turned down anyone in need, especially in a struggling economy.
As we brace ourselves for the new school year, we see a real need to help out. As parents of a kindergartener and a first-grader, we know firsthand our schools are struggling financially. Recently, we have had success in fundraising nights for a local school as well as a local EDYSL soccer team. Because of this, we believe we can take it to the next level in making a difference.
We at Digger’s are proud to announce a new fundraising program for our local schools called Dig in for Schools. Basically, we will designate 10 percent of the proceeds from your bill to your local participating school. For example, if your family of four eats at Digger’s for 25 bucks, we will give your school $2.50. It doesn’t sound like a whole lot, but imagine the possibilities if every one of the thousands of school families came in – we can really make an impact. And that’s just coming in and eating once at Digger’s.
Causes for children have always been nearest and dearest to our hearts. To be honest, we really wish we can give more than 10 percent, but due to our low prices, that’s all our margins would allow us to do. If we charged $100 for a dinner for four, then we will be happy to contribute 50 bucks of that. We are just a small family business trying to make a big difference. We are happy to do this because we believe our customers will embrace us and we can collectively make a difference in a great cause for our community.
We plan to implement this program from Sept. 1 through Dec. 31 as a trial. Please feel free to give us your comments and suggestions or help in any way as we finalize this campaign.
Sincerely,
Jon and DiAnn
