Church scholarships awarded

Knights of Columbus Council 7467 of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church recently awarded a $1,000 scholarship to Liberty High School graduate Angelina Barajas, above, who is attending Los Medanos College for two years and plans to transfer to a four-year college. Her career goals include becoming a radiologist, a career path she has desired since she was a young girl. Presenting the scholarship award is Deacon John Kortuem of the Knights of Columbus Council 7467. Liberty graduate Vannessa Rodriguez, below, was awarded a $1,000 scholarship from the Italian Catholic Federation Branch 432 of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Rodriguez is currently attending UC Berkeley in pursuit of a law degree, which she plans on using to assist those in need.
