A celebration of life for longtime Brentwood resident Lenora Ravenna Roehm has been scheduled for this weekend in Byron.

Roehm died of a heart attack on July 30. She was 88.

A tireless worker for local charities and affectionately known as the Food Lady of East County, Roehm ran Brentwood’s Brown Bag food program and the Food Pantry at the Byron United Methodist Church, where she was a member for 45 years. She was also an active member of the Delta Seniors and was named Brentwood’s Citizen of the Year in 1990.

Roehm was predeceased by her husband, George Roehm II, and daughter, Joan Roehm. She is survived by her children, Alberta Cates, Vernette Pato, Joyce Clark, George Roehm III and Adah Boone; nine grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and 23 foster children.

The celebration of her life will be held Saturday, Aug. 8 at 1 p.m. in the Byron United Methodist Church, 14671 Byron Highway. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in her honor be made to a food bank or a charity of your choice.
