Editor:

My child, who is in 10th grade at Freedom, has to bring more than three books a day, along with binders. I weighed her pack and it was 25 pounds. It has been proven over and over again that a heavy backpack destroys the back. I know the answer is a rolling backpack or a suitcase on wheels, yet I couldn’t afford it.

The school can’t provide books in the classroom; there must be some sort of compromise. Freedom doesn’t even offer lockers to get a break from the load once the students get to school. As far as I can tell, Freedom isn’t about the best for students; it’s about the best for the chiropractor!
