Editor:

I wanted to follow up on my last letter to inform everyone that will be affected if the Peripheral Canal is allowed to continue. There is a rally scheduled for Aug. 17. See www.millionboatfloat.org for more information.

We the citizens who care about the eco-system, fish, wildlife, farmers, recreational activities, business and marinas, and of course, our own drinking water intend to meet our legislators on their own Capitol steps for a discussion about the canal diverting water out of the Delta and the harm that that has caused and what more harm could be caused.

Let’s see if the legislators are man enough to meet with us. Please, people, this land is our land and the legislators are our elected officials. Speak up so they can hear us. They need to remember that it is “Government for the people, by the people and of the people.” Not government for the government.”
