Former state legislator and community leader Lynne Leach has endorsed David Harmer’s candidacy for the 10th Congressional District.
“It’s time for common sense, said Leach. “It’s time for responsibility and accountability. It’s time for David Harmer. David is a family man who can no longer sit back and watch the fiscal damage being done by government to our children and grandchildren. He is stepping forward to fight for our children and protect their future. I stand with him all the way to Washington, D.C.”
Leach is a lifelong entrepreneur who started her own business in 1978. In 1996, she was elected to the State Assembly as the first woman to represent the 15th Assembly District, which encompasses Alameda and Contra Costa counties. She was re-elected to state office twice, and in 2002 left office due to term limits. She has a long history of involvement in her local community through numerous service groups and local activities.
Leach joins an ever-growing list of dozens of local and state elected leaders supporting David Harmer for Congress. Harmer is also among the top fundraisers for the Sept. 1 special election in a district where Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger captured 56 percent of the vote against Democrat Phil Angelides.
The son of former California State Sen. and Lt. Gov. John Harmer, David’s involvement in politics began at age 4, when he walked precincts for his father, who won election to the state Senate and then went on to become lieutenant governor under Ronald Reagan. A successful businessman and attorney, he and wife Elayne are busy raising four young children in their East Bay home.
