Thousands of Californians will join forces on Saturday, Sept. 19 to take part in the 25th annual Coastal Cleanup, and there are plenty of ways to do your part right here in East County to keep local marine environments tidy and free of trash and other pollutants.

Hundreds of volunteers will be targeting a cleanup check-in station at one of the following locations:

Antioch

• Barbara Price Park near Antioch Marina

• Red Caboose, 210 Fulton Shipyard Road

Brentwood

• Creekside Park on Crescent Way off Balfour Road

• Central Boulevard across from the Dainty Center

• Bristow Middle School

• The end of Rosebrook Terrace next to Ron Nunn School

Oakley

• Creekside Park on Creekside Way off Laurel Avenue

• The Cypress Avenue Bridge

• The Delta Road Bridge

Last year, local volunteers collected approximately 8,500 pounds of trash, contributing to the 1.6 million pounds collected statewide by more than 70,000 participants.

Cleanups will be held from 9 a.m. to noon. For more information, call R.C. Ferris at 925-779-6108 for Antioch locations or Diane Burgis at 925-325-2908 for Brentwood and Oakley locations.
