The USS Hornet Museum will hold its annual Monster Bash on Saturday, Oct. 31 from 7:30 p.m. to midnight onboard the historic aircraft carrier anchored at Pier 3 in Alameda.

Visitors will get a good fright throughout the evening with haunted tours, costume contests and other treats. The Haunted Hospital will be packed with evil doctors doing weird experiments that might go wrong. Elvira’s Fright Stimulator will give party-goers a good jolt. Kids can even get into the act by creating ghoulish crafts. Prizes will be awarded in four categories: Most Creative Costume, Best Couple’s Costume, Best Children’s Costume, and Audience Favorite.

This year’s featured band, The Cocktail Monkeys, will lead guests through a fantasy evening covering the most popular songs from the ’60s through current favorites. The Cocktail Monkeys were one of KFOX’s Last Band Standing finalists, and audience participation is not overlooked – you never know who will be selected to come up and join in on cowbell. More information about the band can be found at www.thecocktailmonkeys.com.

Happy hour, tours and children’s activities start at 7:30 p.m.; the band performs from 8 to midnight. To purchase tickets, call 510-521-8448, ext. 282. Tickets are $20 for adults ($25 at the door) and $10 for kids. Cash bars and food concessions are available. For more information, visit www.hornetevents.com.

Proceeds benefit the USS Hornet Museum, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization.

The USS Hornet Museum is dedicated to inspiring people of all ages to experience the legacy of naval history, science and space technology. A registered state and national historic landmark, the ship is permanently berthed at 707 W. Hornet Ave., Pier 3 in Alameda. Exhibits include airplanes, helicopters, spacecraft and the West Coast’s largest Apollo 11 Moon Mission display. The museum is open to the public daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and free, ample parking is available across from the pier.
