Brentwood resident and 2009 Liberty High School graduate Derek Gaffett graduated from USMC Boot Camp on Sept. 11 as a Private 1st Class, being one of five graduates out of 75 in his class to do so.

Gaffett returned to San Diego recently to await his deployment orders.
