Spearheaded by its student Leadership Team and friends, Delta Vista Middle School turned out in big numbers for the recent Oakley Almond Festival Parade. The DVMS float, above, was a tribute to the King of Pop himself, Michael Jackson.

“Everyone in attendance was extremely pumped and showing their school spirit,” according to a press release from the students in Gloria Hutsell’s Leadership class. “This was one of the school’s biggest and best parades ever.”

The dance was based on Jackson’s song “Man in the Mirror,” and participants wore a single glove in honor of Jacko. The students expressed a desire to change their world and said that starts by changing themselves.

Students and staff were proud of being part of Oakley Almond Festival Parade’s 20th Birthday Celebration.

Students also thanked the sponsors that made the float possible: Wayne Swisher Concrete Company; CJ Bradley’s Electric; Aquamatic Fire Protection; Broom Express; Rock-n-Roll Pest Control; and Baker Hughes Petrolite.
