Boys Scouts of America is celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2009-10, and the history of Scout Troop 151 of Antioch goes back nearly as far – to 1916, when it was chartered by American Legion Post 161.

Over the years, the troop has been chartered by several other organizations, and in 2006, became chartered once again by the Legion’s Post 161.

At left are boys from Troop 151 with A.L. Post 161 Commander Bob Scudero, who was presented with the troop’s 2009 charter and an Eagle board inscribed with the names of Troop 151’s Eagle Scouts from 1916 to the present.

Antioch boasts a total of six Boy Scout troops you’ll often see performing community service projects, camping and hiking throughout our park system.

Troop 151 meets every Tuesday night at the American Legion Hall, 403 Sixth St. in downtown Antioch. Come to a meeting and join in the fun!
