Applications are now being taken to fill a seat on the Byron Union School District Board of Trustees.

According to the California Education Code, any person, regardless of sex, who is 18 years of age or older, a citizen of the state, a resident of the school district, a registered voter, and who is not an employee of the school district or who has not been disqualified by the Constitution or laws of the state from holding a civil office, is eligible to be elected or appointed a member of a governing board of a school district without further qualifications.

The Board of Trustees will interview the candidates at its public meeting of Nov. 19, accept oral or written public input, and select the provisional appointee by a majority vote. The term of this board seat is one year.

Applicants should complete a Board Member Candidate Information Sheet, obtainable at the district office (925-809-7502) or Web site (www.byronusd.com).

Applications should be sent to Superintendent Eric Prater at the district office, 14301 Byron Highway, Byron, CA 94514 or via e-mail at bnicolaisen@byron.k12.ca.us by 3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13.
