On Oct. 18 we lost an incredible man to lung cancer. Tom Dimock, 46, passed away at his home in Discovery Bay. Tom is survived by his wife, Denise, and sons Cody, 3, and Devin, 10. He also leaves stepbrothers Ed and Joe Ramsauer and their families; step-sister Robin Kuborssy and her family and stepmom Judy Dimock.

Tom was a wonderful husband and father. He helped with classroom parties, BOOville and the annual holiday float in addition to several of Devin’s sports teams as coach of football, soccer and baseball. And although Cody is only 3, Tom was very involved in his life as well as at school and at home. He was also a great advocate for a better quality of life for his children, choosing to raise his family here in Discovery Bay.

Tom absolutely loved to golf. As a member of Discovery Bay Country Club for the past three years, Tom finally made a hole in one this past July – an accomplishment he was incredibly proud of and shared with anyone and everyone who would listen.

Although he lived with this disease for 15 months, he did not let the disease define him. He continued to remain active and always had the best attitude regarding his disease. He always felt that a positive attitude was what kept him going. He was also extremely happy with his “country club” lifestyle – golfing, taking the kids to school in the golf cart, working around the house, living on the fifth fairway overlooking the course and generally enjoying life to the fullest.

Tom will be greatly missed every day. Thank you to everyone for your kind words and wishes. A memorial golf tournament will be held next March at the country club to honor Tom and what an inspiration he was to so many people.
