4-H celebrates achievers

Contra Costa County 4-H members, adult volunteers and families gathered recently for their annual Achievement Night at Black Diamond Middle School, celebrating the past year and looking forward to the next. A large crowd gathered to enjoy the games, awards and a slideshow.

Two special Friends of 4-H awards were conferred. Oakley City Councilman Jim Frazier and Contra Costa County Supervisor Susan Bonilla were recognized for their work promoting the local 4-H program. Also honored were next year’s Contra Costa County All Stars: Allison Kalinowski of the Brentwood 4-H, Kelsey Arbuckle of the Tassajara 4-H, Amanda Tonkin of the Delta Diablo 4-H, and Marion Smith, also of the Delta Diablo 4-H.

The following are local honorees from Brentwood, Knightsen and Delta-Diablo 4-H: David Novero Memorial Winner of Winner Awards: Junior Division – Alexandria Hanlon, Delta-Diablo 4-H; Intermediate Division – Anthony Cannon, Lamorinda 4-H, and Michael Hogan, Brentwood 4-H; Senior Division – Marion Smith, Delta-Diablo 4-H.
