Far East county awoke to a vision of winter Monday as snow blanketed Mt. Diablo and dusted its foothills lower and earlier than it has in years. Walkers in Shadow Lakes, seen here, enjoyed the rare spectacle of the mountain clad in white, top to bottom.

We're pretty sure a lot of snow shots are swirling out there, and we'd love to post them here. To upload yours, just click here.

Officials call for freezing temperatures tonight, and urge precautions to protect landscaping. For tips on protecting your plants from the expected cold weather, visit http://www.thegardenhelper.com/frost.html
