Volunteers will be looking for new homes for dozens of dogs this weekend at the Home for the Howlidays event, which runs from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 12 at Pampered Pets Doggie Day Care and Boarding, 2405 Sunset Road in Brentwood.

Home for the Howlidays will attract approximately 50 rescued dogs, from Chihuahuas to Great Danes as well as purebred and perfectly mixed dogs. Participating groups include San Francisco Samoyed Rescue, HALO (Homeless Animals Lifeline Organization), The Dog Spot Rescue, and NorSled.

The dogs come from a variety of backgrounds – some have been abandoned in the country and some have been abandoned in their own foreclosed home, while others have been neglected and dropped off at shelters.

The event also features toys and games for kids and canines, plus door prizes for everyone. Those who’d like to bring their dog to the event can get their dog’s picture taken with Santa. Food and refreshments will be part of the fun.
