Tommy Joe Ray, Sr., a longtime resident of Antioch, died peacefully at the age of 73 on Christmas Eve, surrounded by family and friends. He was a 1954 Antioch High School and Laney College graduate.

Tommy Joe worked for 44 years in the newspaper industry. He was an active parishioner of Holy Rosary Church, involved with Holy Names Society, St. Vincent de Paul, and taught CCD. Tommy Joe enjoyed traveling, fishing, and family gatherings. He is survived by his wife, Carmen; sons, Tommy Joe and Robert; brothers, John Ray, Ronald Ray and Raymond Lanier; and sisters, Mattie Perry and Norma Harwell.

Services are pending through Holy Cross Cemetery, 2200 E. 18th St. in Antioch (925-757-0658).
