“It’s just a casual, kick-back, relax, bring-your-chairs-blanket-and-picnic, do-some-barrel-tasting, listen-to-music and enjoy-yourself type of day,” said HNV Vintner Glenda Cohn, who added that, by popular demand, they’ve brought back singer and guitarist Steve Marvel to entertain both Saturday and Sunday.
Admission to the three-day event – March 12, 13 and 14 from noon to 5 p.m. each day – is $15 for HNV Wine Club members (and includes a souvenir wine glass); $20 for non-members; and $25 at the door for everyone.
“We will be sampling the ’07 Merlot, ’09 Sauvignon Blanc and our amazing ’09 Chardonnay and many more,” said Toni Starick, HNV tasting room manager. The perfectly blended tastings will be poured ripe from the barrel room and tank area (children are not permitted in the barrel room or near the tanks).
Those looking for a bargain won’t need to whine to get it. The award-winning winery is offering its wine club members a 40-percent discount on purchases of six packs or cases of their favorite futures (non-members receive a 30-percent discount). Futures are wines purchased during the event and readied for pick up at maturity – July for whites and November for reds.
On Saturday and Sunday of the Barrel Tasting event, samples of locally made cheese served with fresh-baked bread will be available, plus an array of olive oil blend tastings compliments of Brentwood Olive Oil Company. All samples are available for purchase in the HNV gift shop. In addition, Brad and Ken Perks of Perks Photography will be in attendance to autograph their new vineyard landscape book, “Inspirational Harvest and Hope.”
