As a resident of Shadow Lakes and having experienced the horrific day-to-day traffic coming from the opening of Adams Middle School, I am 100 percent in support of the voter initiative that will move the extension of American Avenue closer to reality. The development of Adams Middle School and Heritage High School were never intended to concentrate the sheer volume of students, parents and traffic into the city’s largest cul-de-sac.

Subject to the voters will, in taking this next step forward, will come a long term due diligence and planning process to ensure that the results match the rhetoric. Following four years of sitting on the Planning Commission and having had the pleasure of working with our economic development staff, planning and department of public works, I am confident that the wishes of the citizens of Brentwood will be well served.

Measure F is not needed to fix American Avenue. American Avenue can be fixed now if the school districts and the City of Brentwood would make it a priority. Passage of Measure F will mean more cars-2,000 or so, more people-around 4,000 and more empty commercial space.
